Living and Giving Garden of Elk Grove Village is a volunteer-run organic food pantry in Elk Grove Village whose mission is to educate about sustainable farming and feed the community. They would love more volunteers to help plant, maintain and harvest crops every Saturday morning from 9:00-11:00am and Tuesday evenings from 5:15-6:30pm.

Data Centers - Become an Informed Activist!
Data centers are expanding rapidly across Illinois, bringing new demand for electricity, water, land and infrastructure. But communities are often left without clear information about how these facilities may affect local resources, energy prices and environmental health. People have questions. How will data centers affect our water supply? How will they affect our energy grid and utility bills? How can communities make their voices heard on decisions made that will impact everyone for years to come?
The Mount Prospect Public Library will host a presentation on Thursday August 27th from 6:30-8:30pm about data centers, the impact on communities, with potential solutions both local and statewide. This will be a great opportunity to ask questions and identify next steps to best respond on behalf of your community as an effective and informed activist.

Date/time: Monday August 10th. 10:30 am registration and lunch, 12N tee off for golf (18 holes). After 5pm enjoy cocktails, dinner, silent and live auctions and a lively performance by the Jersey Girls! It will be a fantastic day to connect with community and support Good Neighbors in their ongoing mission to provide unresourced students across 7 local school districts the essentials that they need to succeed.

NWSRA: Northwest Special Recreation Association is a collaborative organization that provides recreational programs for individuals with disabilities in partnership with 17 park districts in the NW suburbs; their main office is in Rolling Meadows. They offer a wide range of activities: sports, arts, social activities and community outings, led by certified staff to help people with disabilities build skills, have fun and make friends. NWSOFA is known for their commitment to inclusion and has received awards for their services. Unlike one time volunteer opportunities, NWSRA volunteers join for an entire program season. After completing the application process, interview and training, volunteers are matched with programs that fit their interests and schedule. Many volunteers return season after season, building lasting and life enriching relationships. Imagine the impact you could have!

WINGS Pantry: Provides essential items to domestic violence survivors and their children across all of their programs. Each month they fulfill an average of 140 pantry requests for food, hygiene items, baby supplies, cleaning products, bedding and more. During the summer donations slow down but the need continues to grow! Whether you donate personally or host a donation drive with friends in your community, every contribution helps to provide comfort, dignity and hope to survivors rebuilding their lives.

Clearbrook is another home, a family, to over 8,000 children and adults impacted by intellectual/developmental disabilities. They support them and their families by providing personalized support, helping them to live their fullest lives possible.

**They currently have an urgent need for donors, especially Type O**
Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. This could be a little girl in the ICU or a mother with Stage 3 leukemia. If you’re worried about needles, don’t be—most blood donors compare the experience to a mild, split-second pinch! The entire process is very safe and very fast, and you will feel amazing knowing you potentially saved up to three people.

Emmaus House of Hospitality: a ministry of hospitality dedicated to neighbors struggling with poverty, providing food, clothing and funding for shelter. Each Thursday afternoon they pick up food at or near expiration that would otherwise be discarded from local grocery stores and bring it to their facility to store in refrigerators and freezers. People can then stop in and shop for what they need, no proof of residency or need required. We'll host a volunteer event on an upcoming Sunday afternoon 1-4pm. More details to come once the date is confirmed.

JOURNEYS the Road Home. Journeys provides shelter, social services and housing to people experiencing homelessness in 37 towns across the NW suburbs and Southern Lake County. We'll host a volunteer event to help cook dinner one night. More details to come once the date is confirmed.

Pride Month is here! Help make support, acceptance, and belonging visible across Palatine!
The Community Mental Health Project is proud to partner with Northwest Suburban Pride & Action Network and Glens Friends for a community-wide Palatine Pride yard sign campaign supporting local LGBTQ+ mental health programs and initiatives right here in Palatine.
With a contribution of $20 or more, supporters will receive a complimentary Palatine Pride yard sign delivered directly to their home by local volunteers.
These signs are more than decorations. They’re visible reminders that LGBTQ+ individuals and families are valued, supported, and welcome in our community.
