Wednesday July 8th - Liz Nierman

Liz Nierman, volunteer coordinator from the Arlington Heights Senior Center for the past 3 years will talk about opportunities to serve our local senior community. AH Senior Center is nationally accredited by the National Council on Aging Program of Excellence. It's a hub for people 55 and over to meet and participate in a variety of life enriching programs, classes and events. Liz is a very active member of the community, member of District 25 school board and lifetime resident of Arlington Heights.

Coming soon! On Oct 7th we'll hear from Janet Meinheit, a longtime Arlington Heights resident who has extensive experience in creating meaningful, fun and popular events. She's the Co-Founder of the hugely successful Summer Solstice Sisterhood, a yearly summer event dedicated to collecting and donating feminine hygiene products to organizations in need. She was also honored as Co-Woman of the Year by Journeys the Road Home. Janet will talk about how you can create your own events to support the organizations and causes you love, as well as her current donation drive called "Feets and Seats" providing socks and underwear to under-resourced kids. Janet has a gift for making community service fun, and we look forward to learning from her!

Wednesday June 24th - Bill Harrison

Bill Harrison, Buffalo Grove resident, is a board member of School District 21, Wheeling Township Dems and a retired attorney. He will share his wide range of experience in volunteering locally. From creating a chess club for youth to starting Coffee and Community on Saturday mornings for Wheeling Township Dems to being honored as a Distinguished Board Member by the IL Association of School Boards, Bill leads by bringing people together very effectively.

Wednesday July 29th - Speaker Bill Davis


Bill Davis, leader for NWSOFA will be joining us! NWSOFA-Indivisible is a grassroots progressive organization based in the northwest suburbs. It's one of the largest local Indivisible chapters in the country. Their group focuses on community organizing, voter outreach, and advocating for democratic rights, climate change action, and social justice. Bill will talk about all the great work NWSOFA is doing and how you can help. Date to be confirmed soon!

Wednesday August 26th - Speaker Mary Kay Baldino


Mary Kay has extensive experience working on all aspects of political campaigns, her great passion. Over the past 10 years she has worked tirelessly: finding and recruiting candidates for office, successfully running the campaign that resulted in the election of her husband as a write-in candidate, and leading at a candidate coaching academy. She'll discuss the many volunteer opportunities available on political campaigns for the candidate of your choice. Whether it's visible or behind the scenes, there is a place for everyone! Come learn how to effectively help elect the leaders you believe in. With Mary Kay's wealth of experience and wisdom it's sure to be an informative, inspiring and empowering discussion, and right on time as we head into midterm election season!

Our next We Volunteer speaker meeting will be Wednesday September 9th at 6:30 pm featuring Jesse Rojo, the Director of Public Policy & Advocacy at Clearbrook, a nonprofit based in Arlington Heights that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) across the region. This meeting will be Zoom only (link to come soon) so you can learn from Jesse all about Clearbrook's great work from the comfort of your home. Our speaker meetings are a great way to hear firsthand from community leaders and ask your questions about their unique paths and the organizations they serve. Don't miss it!
